Midnight Airdrop - DONT CLICK IT!

As I suspected by the way the Midnight Airdrop has been kicked off, there would be a lot of issues, concerns and frustrations but more so than that, hackers and the like trying to prey on the confusion.

There are some things I want to address for folks in part to spread caution and warning, but as well, to encourage and guide. First, let me address a couple of issues about Midnight's Glacier Drop.

#1. Hardware Wallets aren't working properly yet. I know, for many it sucks and is frustrating but thats just how it is currently. I dont know when this will be resolved. DONT CLICK random emails, website links or otherwise claiming they have a fix or that their platform works, etc. This is nonsense and they are trying to hack your wallet. The ONLY valid website for updates on any Midnight related issues is https://www.midnight.gd/

#2. I dont want to import my seed phrase! I get it. As a Daedalus user myself it was frustrating being forced into a browser wallet for a few minutes just to claim the drop. I had a feeling a long time ago it would be like this and it was. We want security and functionality. However, this is what is necessary. Importing your seedphrase into a website is one thing, I'd NEVER do that. Restoring a wallet into another trusted wallet by IOHK, I'm ok with. Reluctant, but ok. The only valid link to get your Lace Wallet is https://www.lace.io

#3. Do not Google Search issues and click links in the search results for resolutions. There will be a growing number of phishing sites, hacked and cloned platforms, sponsored hack links etc over the coming months. We are already seeing them on X.com and other social media platforms trying to lure people in. DONT CLICK THEM!

#4. While Lace Wallet is the only wallet currently to work with Night tokens AND DUST, we have about 59 days left for the first phase of the Drop with more time for Thaws to conclude and its likely other wallets will begin announcing their ability to work with Night and Dust also, however, I'm going to stick with the wallets by IOHK. Lace has improved a great deal over the years and it's the best in my opinion at this time.

#5. You have 60 Days! You have 60 days to Claim Your NIGHT Tokens. There is no dramatic rush as bugs and issues are resolved. Just stay calm and dont get played by hackers.

#6. The Claim process should be with a new Lace wallet with 0 transactions on it. There are reasons for this. If you do that, your claim should take seconds to complete with no issues and just a few clicks.

#7. But I wanna! I know, you wanna keep trying things your way and ignore what actually works for this reason or that. Your will to mold the situation into what you want isn't going to work. If in doubt, wait it out.

IOHK and Midnight are focused on a cross chain air drop and yes, it is different than others in that it's not just a "Wake up to new coins in your wallet" type of situation. Tokens are being distributed to multiple blockchains and bringing in new users to Cardano and Midnight. This is the reason they have to do it this way because its all effectively on Cardano. They cant just airdrop NIGHT to BTC holders, etc. This is why there is a platform for claiming your tokens by showing that you merit NIGHT based on your Token holdings and able to input a Destination wallet address for your NIGHT.

The Claim period of 60 days, with followup periods including THAW periods are all for a reason. I assume a primary reason is to ensure people from other chains can't just claim their NIGHT and dump them immediately holding back the valuation of the tokens. This forces people to get active on Cardano, get a Cardano wallet and learn to use it properly. This is an onboarding for tens of millions.

Mix this with the overall interoperable nature of Cardano with these other chains and you have a powerhouse being established in real time.

Folks, be patient and know it will work out.

In summary, if you want your claim done right now, wait for Midnight to fix hardware wallet issues, dont go clicking around the web for answers that arent there, use the links above to get you where you need to be safely, or just create your new Lace Wallet and knock it out in a few seconds. If you attempt to claim and you get messages about signing and copy pasting strings etc, its likely your wallet isn't a new wallet with 0 transactions. If it is, try refreshing your browser and trying again. It worked for me the 2nd time.
